O Festival de Cannes anunciou nesta quinta-feira (9) a seleção oficial da 79ª edição, que ocorre em maio, na França. A lista reúne cineastas consagrados como Ryusuke Hamaguchi e Pedro Almodóvar na disputa pela Palma de Ouro. O Brasil não aparece na competição principal, mas integra o evento com uma coprodução selecionada.

Quem disputa a Palma: Entre os destaques estão Ryusuke Hamaguchi, com All of a Sudden, Hirokazu Kore-eda, com Sheep in the Box, e Asghar Farhadi, com Parallel Tales. Pedro Almodóvar concorre com Natal Amargo.

Onde entra o Brasil: O filme Elefantes na Névoa foi selecionado para a mostra Un Certain Regard. A produção é uma coprodução internacional com participação das brasileiras Bubbles Project e Enquadramento Produções.

Entenda a mostra: A Un Certain Regard é uma das principais seções paralelas de Cannes. Ela destaca novos olhares e propostas autorais, mas não faz parte da disputa pela Palma de Ouro.

Sem surpresas na seleção: A lista principal seguiu previsões do mercado, com nomes recorrentes no festival e poucos títulos inesperados.
